Junior eco-warrior’s choc chip bribery

Kapi-Mana News - - FRONT PAGE - By KRIS DANDO

Leon Chick combined one of his pet peeves with chocolate biscuits on Friday.

The Titahi Bay 5- year- old joined a group of his Kura St classmates and Mana MP Kris Faafoi in a clean-up of Onepoto Domain.

‘‘I just want to make it tidier. There’s too much rubbish there,’’ he said.

Leon has his own blog and a growing social conscience, according to his mother, Claire.

He organised the clean-up as part of a homework challenge.

He wrote to Mr Faafoi in May, saying he often saw rubbish in the domain.

‘‘I think you should get people to come and pick rubbish up with you. I will help too.

‘‘You could give everyone a biscuit for helping. I like chocolate chip biscuits best,’’ Leon’s letter said.

Claire hoped the clean-up would become a regular occurrence but, if not, she and her family would continue to pick up rubbish regularly anyway.
