The Kapi-Mana News ar­ti­cle (Au­gust 13) re­port­ing Vil­lage Plan­ning fund­ing and the ac­tions of the Whitby Res­i­dents As­so­ci­a­tion may be mis­lead­ing to your read­ers.

The Whitby Res­i­dents As­so­ci­a­tion has never ‘‘threat­ened to com­plain pub­licly about its share of the $500,000’’, as the ar­ti­cle stated. We have never threat­ened to do any­thing to any­one.

We were con­cerned about the process, trans­parency, and fair­ness of the al­lo­ca­tions and raised that with coun­cil­lors, but we have never com­plained or threat­ened to com­plain about our share.

Sim­i­larly, the Whitby Res­i­dents As­so­ci­a­tion has never ‘‘pro­posed the money be al­lo­cated based on the pro­por­tion of rates paid’’, ei­ther of­fi­cially or un­of­fi­cially.

The as­so­ci­a­tion com­mit­tee lodged an OIA re­quest sim­ply be­cause we wanted to know defini­tively how much Whitby con­trib­uted to Porirua City Coun­cil rates, as we had vary­ing fig­ures from vary­ing sources pre­vi­ously. We now have ac­cu­rate in­for­ma­tion.
