Polyfest celebration a huge hit
More than 10 nationalities came together for Porirua’s popular Polyfest on Friday.
Seven schools from around Wellington took part in the festival, held at Te Rauparaha Arena.
MC Lui Lafou said at least 800 performers took part.
Schools showcased a range of different cultures, from Japanese taiko drumming to kapa haka.
Mana, Aotea, Bishop Viard, Porirua and Tawa colleges, Samuel Marsden Whitby and Te Kura Maori o Porirua took part, and there was a performance by Tokelauan group Kauhiva.
Mr Lafou said the aim was to celebrate different cultures by bringing them together.
