KIDS LOVIN’ CALLIOPE PARK
The new Calliope Park playground, in Cannons Creek, is proving to be a magnet for local children. The play area on the sunny, southern end of Calliope Park features a range of play equipment, including a climbing frame, swings and obstacle course-type challenges. A circular footpath around the park, improved light- ing and a basketball court extension have also been completed. The old playground in the northern corner of the park has been dismantled, and will be re-used as four pieces of adult tness equipment around the new circular footpath. The work is being carried out by volunteers from Plimmerton Rotary.
Work still to come includes new seating, resealing of the quarter court basketball area with a new backboard and new netball goal installed, and a fun road safety education circuit. The Calliope park upgrade is being driven by the Cannons Creek Residents and Ratepayers Association through Porirua City Council’s Village Planning Programme.
