Reply by Porirua Community Trust

Kapi-Mana News - - OPINION -

Your editorial ‘‘Money for jam’’ (October 29) was so factually inaccurate it can only serve to mislead the Porirua community.

The current fee structure of trustees is clear with trustees being paid, in total, between $9500 and $18,500 each. Their roles for the next three years involve great responsibility and a significant amount of time managing trust funds and property portfolios, distributing grants and managing scholarships.

Your report of the fee structure has made wrong assumptions. Fees are not paid on top of fees. Trustees are paid for one role within Mana Community Grants Foundation and one role at Trust Porirua, not two or three, as you asserted.

Total trustee fees are included in our annual report and there are strict guidelines around any other associated costs.

We are seeing a real drive with the current trustees (three of whom have been in their position only two weeks) towards total transparency, accountability and vastly improved reporting to the community.

Your newspaper has done a disservice to the hardworking, community-minded individuals on
