Arts and de­sign stu­dents to ex­hibit

Pataka Mu­seum is to host an ex­hi­bi­tion by Whi­tireia vis­ual arts and de­sign stu­dents this week.

Nearly 30 stu­dents will ex­hibit works in the ex­hi­bi­tion.

Toast com­bines a range of work in­clud­ing photography, graphic de­sign, an­i­ma­tion de­sign, jew­ellery, draw­ing, sculp­ture and paint­ing.

The ex­hi­bi­tion will be be open at Pataka’s Bot­tle Creek gallery from Novem­ber 21 till De­cem­ber 15.

Whi­tireia vis­ual arts stu­dent Moniek Schri­jer is also pre­sent­ing work in an ex­hi­bi­tion in Wellington.

MV Sub­ter­ranean Universe con­tains Schri­jer’s con­tem­po­rary jew­ellery on dis­play at Toi Poneke Arts Cen­tre un­til De­cem­ber 7.

Schri­jer’s method fo­cuses on ex­per­i­men­ta­tion and process, trans­form­ing ma­te­ri­als and care­fully se­lected rem­nants from con­tem­po­rary cul­ture into bold, unique and crafted works.

Sev­eral of her pieces com­bine jew­ellery with tra­di­tional print-mak­ing, us­ing etched metal and carved wood.

The ex­hi­bi­tion is the cul­mi­na­tion of Schri­jer’s 2013 artist-in-res­i­dence at Toi Poneke, sup­ported by Whi­tireia.

MV Sub­ter­ranean Universe is open at Toi Poneke Arts Cen­tre, 61 Abel Smith St, Wellington, un­til De­cem­ber 7.
