Brown was going through a rough period at the time of her offending, Mr More said.
Her own home was invaded by burglars, and she was using alcohol and drugs to deal with traumatic events in her past, he said.
‘‘These have come to a head in the last few years with drug abuse and, essentially, her selfmedicating.’’
Being remanded in jail since September 20 had forced Brown to dry out and she was in a good space, with more balanced moods and a clear complexion, Mr More said.
She had started taking antidepressants and had tackled some of her problems for the first time, he said.
