A group of Waitangirua fathers are working to spruce up the Waitangirua Community Park in preparation for a celebration day on November 30. The men from the Wesley Community Action Fathers Group have sanded down and painted the fences around the basketball and volleyball courts – and payment for their hard work is going directly to Natone Park School to fund a school trip. One of the volunteers, Keith Ribbon, said it was great to be out doing something for the community. “I put my hand up to help. It’s good to be out here working.” Natone Park School children were involved in the original development of the park ,and chose the Royal Blue colour for the newly-painted fence posts. The Waitangirua Community Day is aimed at encouraging local residents to celebrate their community and get to know their neighbours. It’s being organised by local residents in partnership with the Council’s Village Planning Programme. There will be car boot sales, entertainment, and food and drink.
