Park fes­ti­val gear­ing up

The an­nual Christ­mas fes­ti­val will be held at Els­don Park on De­cem­ber 14.

‘‘We have another great lineup of artists, as well as car­ols and fire­works,’’ said the chair­man of the or­gan­is­ing com­mit­tee, Robert Brace.

‘‘The fes­ti­val is a con­tem­po­rary celebration of Christ­mas and is a great va­ri­ety fam­ily night.’’

Per­form­ers will in­clude a massed ukulele chil­dren’s group, Arise Dance, X-Fac­tor con­tes­tant Maaka Fiso, Soul Ser­vant band, soloists Fu­atino and Sara Malo, and pop art- ist Mas­sad. Mr Brace said it would be the last ap­pear­ance of crowd favourite Funky Mon­keys. The fes­ti­val starts at 8pm. Mean­while, the last Tawa craft mar­ket of the year will be on De­cem­ber 14 at the Tawa Com­mu­nity Cen­tre, from 9.30am till 1.30pm.

Cup­cakes, wood­work, ceram­ics, needle­work, knit­ting, jew­ellery and Tup­per­ware will be among the items on sale.

The Tawa Christ­mas pa­rade be­gins on De­cem­ber 14 at 2pm from Ox­ford St.
