Why the haka is so good
I write in response to Joseph Romanos’ opinion on the haka (Sportstalk, November 26).
The haka is for three or four minutes tops, and is followed by an 80-minute game of Swing Low, Sweet Chariot, Waltzing Matilda and other ‘‘national’’ songs.
Do we complain? No, we go out and play 80 minutes of entertaining rugby.
To those sports fans who wish to have the All Blacks drop the haka: if there is no haka, there is no All Blacks, and no All Blacks would mean a third-rate world competition.
