Citizens’ Advice offerings
Did you know that the Citizens’ Advice Bureau in Porirua offers a Justice of the Peace service?
The JP is available on Mondays, 12.30 till 2pm; Wednesdays, 9am till 12.30pm; Fridays, 12.30pm till 4.30pm.
At other times you are advised to ring and confirm before coming. The bureau is open on Thursday nights from 4.30pm till 6.30pm by appointment.
In addition to a Citizens’ Advice Bureau volunteer who can provide you with information on any concern or topic, we have a lawyer and a budget adviser available, and a benefit adviser by appointment.
There is a computer, with internet access for clients to use to do their own research.
An advocacy service is available to help those who are having trouble sorting out their eligibility for Work and Income benefits. It is run on Mondays and Tuesdays and Thursday evenings by appointment.
There is a telephone which clients can use free when making a local call or an 0800 number, but we do appreciate a small koha as we pay for those calls.
These services are besides our normal activity of giving options to sort out an issue or concern and answering your questions. We do that about 7500 times a year and would love to see or hear from you.
