Cit­i­zens’ Ad­vice of­fer­ings

Did you know that the Cit­i­zens’ Ad­vice Bureau in Porirua of­fers a Jus­tice of the Peace ser­vice?

The JP is avail­able on Mon­days, 12.30 till 2pm; Wed­nes­days, 9am till 12.30pm; Fri­days, 12.30pm till 4.30pm.

At other times you are ad­vised to ring and con­firm be­fore com­ing. The bureau is open on Thurs­day nights from 4.30pm till 6.30pm by ap­point­ment.

In ad­di­tion to a Cit­i­zens’ Ad­vice Bureau vol­un­teer who can pro­vide you with in­for­ma­tion on any con­cern or topic, we have a lawyer and a bud­get ad­viser avail­able, and a ben­e­fit ad­viser by ap­point­ment.

There is a com­puter, with in­ter­net ac­cess for clients to use to do their own re­search.

An ad­vo­cacy ser­vice is avail­able to help those who are hav­ing trou­ble sort­ing out their el­i­gi­bil­ity for Work and In­come ben­e­fits. It is run on Mon­days and Tues­days and Thurs­day evenings by ap­point­ment.

There is a tele­phone which clients can use free when mak­ing a lo­cal call or an 0800 num­ber, but we do ap­pre­ci­ate a small koha as we pay for those calls.

Th­ese ser­vices are be­sides our nor­mal ac­tiv­ity of giv­ing op­tions to sort out an is­sue or con­cern and an­swer­ing your ques­tions. We do that about 7500 times a year and would love to see or hear from you.
