Boost for musicians
Two Porirua musicians have been chosen to play for the National Youth Brass Band at the final concert of its tour, in Wellington next weekend.
It is Matthew Hurnen’s first time in the band on second trombone and Nicholas Garrett is the band’s principal cornet.
Both men play in the Trust Porirua City Brass Band.
The National Youth Brass Band is a mix of talented young New Zealanders aged under 23 and drawn from all around the country. Selection is by audition. Many former band members have gone on to professional musical careers.
