Free workshop pre­cedes in­let photo con­test

The an­nual Guardians of Pau­ata­hanui In­let photo com­pe­ti­tion is nearly un­der way and there is a free workshop this year for those un­der-18 to en­cour­age more en­tries.

The com­pe­ti­tion is a pop­u­lar event in Porirua and a chance to show­case the recre­ation ac­tiv­i­ties that take place in and around the in­let, and the flora and fauna that make the area so cap­ti­vat­ing.

The com­pe­ti­tion is now in its 14th year.

The ju­nior sec­tion of the com­pe­ti­tion has been grow­ing and there is a chance for bud­ding pho­tog­ra­phers to fur­ther their skills via the Kapiti Cam­era Club.

The club’s pres­i­dent, Des­tina Munro, will of­fer a free workshop for un­der-18s on Sun­day, Fe­bru­ary 23, from 4.30pm.

There will be an hour’s tu­to­rial at Stout Cot­tage in Pau­ata­hanui Wildlife Re­serve and then a field trip.

The ses­sion will fin­ish at Stout Cot­tage, where there will be a dis­cus­sion to see how the photographs could have been im­proved upon.
