Free workshop precedes inlet photo contest
The annual Guardians of Pauatahanui Inlet photo competition is nearly under way and there is a free workshop this year for those under-18 to encourage more entries.
The competition is a popular event in Porirua and a chance to showcase the recreation activities that take place in and around the inlet, and the flora and fauna that make the area so captivating.
The competition is now in its 14th year.
The junior section of the competition has been growing and there is a chance for budding photographers to further their skills via the Kapiti Camera Club.
The club’s president, Destina Munro, will offer a free workshop for under-18s on Sunday, February 23, from 4.30pm.
There will be an hour’s tutorial at Stout Cottage in Pauatahanui Wildlife Reserve and then a field trip.
The session will finish at Stout Cottage, where there will be a discussion to see how the photographs could have been improved upon.
Registrations for the session must be before in by Sunday, February 16. To download a registration form, go to gopi.org.nz.
