Maori lan­guage meet­ings

Maori Af­fairs Min­is­ter Pita Sharples was in Porirua this week to dis­cuss a pro­posed Maori lan­guage strat­egy.

Seven con­sul­ta­tion hui are be­ing held na­tion­wide, start­ing in Porirua yes­ter­day.

Dr Sharples says the hui were an op­por­tu­nity for peo­ple to put for­ward their views about te reo.

The draft strat­egy fo­cuses on sup­port­ing lan­guage learn­ing in homes.
