Hobnail to play a gig at Paekakariki
Wellington folk rock band Hobnail is teaming with Wayne Mason for a one-off Valentines Day show at Paekakariki on Friday.
Hobnail, three of whom live in Porirua, have been performing for 18 years, all over New Zealand and in the United States, Canada and Europe, and have become firm festival favourites.
The band, originally called Hobnail Boots, began by playing celtic and country music before they branched out with a lot of original material.
Mason, 64, is best remembered for his song Nature, first recorded in the 1960s by pop group The Fourmyula.
In 2001, Nature was voted No1 in a list of the top 100 New Zealand songs of all time by the Australasian Performing Rights Association.
Mason has also recorded several albums under his own name.
