Hob­nail to play a gig at Paekakariki

Wellington folk rock band Hob­nail is team­ing with Wayne Ma­son for a one-off Valen­tines Day show at Paekakariki on Fri­day.

Hob­nail, three of whom live in Porirua, have been per­form­ing for 18 years, all over New Zealand and in the United States, Canada and Europe, and have be­come firm fes­ti­val favourites.

The band, orig­i­nally called Hob­nail Boots, be­gan by play­ing celtic and coun­try mu­sic be­fore they branched out with a lot of orig­i­nal ma­te­rial.

Ma­son, 64, is best re­mem­bered for his song Na­ture, first recorded in the 1960s by pop group The Fourmyula.

In 2001, Na­ture was voted No1 in a list of the top 100 New Zealand songs of all time by the Australasian Per­form­ing Rights As­so­ci­a­tion.

Ma­son has also recorded sev­eral al­bums un­der his own name.
