Online safety help for teach­ers

A new in­ter­net safety re­source for teach­ers is be­ing launched at Tawa Pri­mary School.

The project is called OWLS and it was de­vel­oped by the Of­fice of the Pri­vacy Com­mis­sioner, NetSafe and the New Zealand Na­tional Com­mis­sion for Unesco.

OWLS is about teach­ing chil­dren to be wise about online pri­vacy and has 24 mod­ules about pro­tect­ing per­sonal in­for­ma­tion online.

To­day As­so­ci­ate Min­is­ter of Ed­u­ca­tion Nikki Kaye will speak about the re­source and there will be a demon­stra­tion.

The launch is timed to co­in­cide with world­wide Safer In­ter­net Day.
