Road safety funding pulled
NZ Transport Agency has withdrawn its funding for a road safety co-ordinator in Porirua.
Porirua City councillor Litea Ah Hoi raised the issue of the city not having a dedicated road safety coordinator at last week’s Te Komiti meeting.
She wanted to know how it would have an impact on the city and was worried someone might get hurt or killed without a programme in place.
Council chief executive Gary Simpson said the agency had withdrawn funding because ‘‘ they were not happy with our delivery’’.
The council was working with the agency to find an alternative solution, he said.
