SUPERMARKET SPLITS OPINION

Kapi-Mana News - - NEWS -

Aotea Residents Association chairman Rodney Strong says there are equal measures of excitement and concern among residents about the proposed new supermarket. ‘‘There is a clear case for both sides,’’ he said. Some of the other comments on the Friends of Aotea Facebook page include:

‘‘I would prefer a smaller shop in Aotea to a new big supermarket and all the noise and traffic it will bring’’ - Brooke Fryer.

‘‘I think it’s a great idea, and will help the community who struggle to get into Porirua’’ - Jessica Black.

‘‘I am trying to visualise a massive Countdown, with bright lights, additional noise and considerably heavier traffic’’ - Cat Jamie-Hall.

‘‘Why would you have so many supermarkets in the one area? It’s all a case of these giant companies that have no respect for a community but shove their competitors out the way’’ - Tasi Tamamasui.
