Walking track opened
The five-kilometre walking and cycling track linking Tawa and Porirua was opened on Sunday.
The occasion also marked the completion of the upgrade of Grasslees Reserve.
Wellington mayor Celia WadeBrown said the $4.5 million Tawa Valley Pathway, jointly funded by the council and NZ Transport Agency, was the council’s most significant cycling and walking project so far.
The track provides an off-road route from Kenepuru Railway Station in Porirua to Willowbank Park at the south end of Tawa, passing through several other parks, including Grasslees Reserve.
