NEXT STAGE OF TE ARA PIKO TO OPEN SOON

The new­est stage of the walk­way around Pau­ata­hanui inlet, Te Ara Piko, is be­ing of cially opened to­mor­row, 28 May, ex­tend­ing it from Mo­tukaraka Point all the way into Pau­ata­hanui Vil­lage.

The new 350m sec­tion stage takes it from Ra­tion Creek into the vil­lage along­side the Pau­ata­hanui Wildlife Man­age­ment Re­serve, past salt­marsh and wet­land habi­tats. Te Ara Piko path­way is a joint project be­tween the Coun­cil and Plim­mer­ton Ro­tary Club that be­gan in 2005, and aims to de­velop a path­way all the way around Pau­ata­hanui Inlet. The next phase will see de­sign work done to ex­tend the path­way from Mo­tukaraka Point west to the Grays Rd wa­ter­ski club, to link with the Cam­borne Walk­way.
