Disputed film to screen in Paekak

Kapi-Mana News - - NEWS -

Controversial Nigerian film Half of a Yellow Sun will screen in Paekakariki from May 29.

Based on Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s novel of the same name, the film is a love story set during the Nigerian civil war of 1970.

Controversy has surrounded the film, which has not been released in its native Nigeria owing to fears it will spark antigovernment sentiment.

Though Half a Yellow Sun has played in film festivals around the world, Finns Cinema in Paekakariki is one of few cinemas in New Zealand where it will be shown.
