Tawa and Porirua res­i­dents got into char­ac­ter for the Ar­maged­don sci­ence fic­tion and fan­tasy expo held dur­ing Queen’s Birth­day Weekend in Welling­ton.

More than 22,000 fans went through West­pac Sta­dium dur­ing the three days to see tele­vi­sion and movie stars from The Hob­bit, Percy Jack­son, and Game of Thrones.

Ar­maged­don Expo event di­rec­tor Bill Ger­adts said crowd num­bers were the high­est in its 13 years.

Those there were on a ‘‘nat­u­ral buzz’’, many dressed as favourite char­ac­ters, he said.
