Tough initiation for netballers
KBJ were handed a towelling in their first Super League netball match last Thursday night, but are promising to bounce back.
The Kapi Mana region’s representative in division 2 will take on the best from Hutt Valley, Kapiti and Wellington in the coming weeks.
On Thursday they were well beaten, 59-38, by Maidstone from Upper Hutt.
Coach Hori Waaka said KBJ found out hours only before their match they had made it into the Super League, after Norths withdrew.
‘‘We had a real baptism of fire – the refereeing, the pace, the skill level – and it was a bit rushed to start with.
‘‘It was a shock for the girls, but they recovered well. We won the last quarter 14-12, and we’ll get our structures better and kick on from here.’’
