Time to celebrate at kindy
It was party time at Mungavin Kindergarten last Friday when its new marae-style entrance was opened.
The double gate entrance, featuring manuka tree branches from Pauatahanui and carved wooden panels from the story of Porirua’s taniwha Te Awarua o Porirua, is the first of its kind in Porirua.
The carvings were done without charge by Ari Karati, a past parent at the kindy.
It has taken the kindergarten two years to raise the $10,000 cost of building the entrance.
Ropu said it was a credit to past and present families who had supported the kindergarten’s fundraising efforts.
