Programmed for holiday fun
Porirua Libraries are running the Gecko Press July School Holiday Programme, hosting reading-related activities in the Porirua, Cannons Creek and Whitby libraries. On July 10, children can meet author and illustrator of Mrs Mo’s Monster, Paul Beavis, for storytime and a live drawing session, running at 10.30am at Porirua Library, 1.30pm at Cannons Creek Library, and 3.30pm at Whitby Library. The YMCA is running a school holiday programme based in Plimmerton and Titahi Bay from July 7 to 18. There are a range of activities for children aged from 5 to 15, such as Snag golf, visits to Te Papa, a ‘‘Secrets in Wizardry’’ class and a neon lights disco. The Porirua Whanau Centre is running a programme from July 7 to 18, from 8.45am till 3pm, Monday to Friday. There is a range of different activities, such as arts and crafts, bowling, cooking and movies. The programme also includes swimming lessons each day. The cost is $15 per child per week.
The Tawa Recreation Centre holiday programme runs from July 7 till 18, 8.30am till 3.30pm, for 5 to 12-yearolds. Highlights include a baking and building day and wheels and racing day. For information, visit wellington.govt.nz.
