Porirua Li­braries are run­ning the Gecko Press July School Hol­i­day Pro­gramme, host­ing read­ing-re­lated ac­tiv­i­ties in the Porirua, Can­nons Creek and Whitby li­braries. On July 10, chil­dren can meet au­thor and il­lus­tra­tor of Mrs Mo’s Monster, Paul Beavis, for sto­ry­time and a live draw­ing ses­sion, run­ning at 10.30am at Porirua Li­brary, 1.30pm at Can­nons Creek Li­brary, and 3.30pm at Whitby Li­brary. The YMCA is run­ning a school hol­i­day pro­gramme based in Plim­mer­ton and Ti­tahi Bay from July 7 to 18. There are a range of ac­tiv­i­ties for chil­dren aged from 5 to 15, such as Snag golf, vis­its to Te Papa, a ‘‘Se­crets in Wizardry’’ class and a neon lights disco. The Porirua Whanau Cen­tre is run­ning a pro­gramme from July 7 to 18, from 8.45am till 3pm, Mon­day to Fri­day. There is a range of dif­fer­ent ac­tiv­i­ties, such as arts and crafts, bowl­ing, cook­ing and movies. The pro­gramme also in­cludes swim­ming lessons each day. The cost is $15 per child per week.
