KBJ stunned in premier netball
KBJ 1 were rocked by newcomers Te Tai Timu in Kapi Mana premier 1 netball on Saturday.
Te Tai Timu recorded a solid 55-47 win and they and Norths 1, who beat Tawa College 64-28, are the two unbeaten teams after two games of the championship round.
In other matches, Norths 2 beat Kahurangi by default and Rockz 1 overcame Aotea College 49-31.
Both Porirua sides suffered heavy defeats in Wellington premier rugby league on Saturday.
Porirua Vikings went down to Wainuiomata 34-8 at Wise Park, and St George were thumped 74-10 by Te Aroha at Te Whiti Park.
Tawa welcomed James So’oialo back after an injury lay-off, but it wasn’t enough to spur the Jubilee Cup champions and they went down 26-23 to Old Boys-University in Wellington premier rugby on Saturday.
Taniela Koroi, Sam Tuala and Tolu Fahamokioa scored tries, but the defeat leaves Tawa sixth and in danger of missing the Jubilee Cup semi-finals.
Northern United, meanwhile, hammered previously unbeaten Avalon 54-8 in Hardham Cup action. Second-five Jackson Garden-Bachop was a standout as Norths scored 40 unanswered points in the second half to rise to second place.
Paremata-Plimmerton suffered another heartbreaker, losing 33-28 to Marist St Pat’s.
In the women’s comeptition, Northern United beat Old Boys- University 32- 17, Tawa beat Poneke by default.
