KBJ stunned in pre­mier net­ball

KBJ 1 were rocked by new­com­ers Te Tai Timu in Kapi Mana pre­mier 1 net­ball on Satur­day.

Te Tai Timu recorded a solid 55-47 win and they and Norths 1, who beat Tawa Col­lege 64-28, are the two un­beaten teams af­ter two games of the cham­pi­onship round.

In other matches, Norths 2 beat Kahu­rangi by de­fault and Rockz 1 over­came Aotea Col­lege 49-31.

Both Porirua sides suf­fered heavy de­feats in Welling­ton pre­mier rugby league on Satur­day.

Porirua Vik­ings went down to Wainuiomata 34-8 at Wise Park, and St Ge­orge were thumped 74-10 by Te Aroha at Te Whiti Park.

Tawa wel­comed James So’oialo back af­ter an in­jury lay-off, but it wasn’t enough to spur the Ju­bilee Cup cham­pi­ons and they went down 26-23 to Old Boys-Univer­sity in Welling­ton pre­mier rugby on Satur­day.

Taniela Koroi, Sam Tuala and Tolu Fa­hamokioa scored tries, but the de­feat leaves Tawa sixth and in dan­ger of miss­ing the Ju­bilee Cup semi-fi­nals.

North­ern United, mean­while, ham­mered pre­vi­ously un­beaten Avalon 54-8 in Hard­ham Cup ac­tion. Sec­ond-five Jack­son Gar­den-Ba­chop was a stand­out as Norths scored 40 unan­swered points in the sec­ond half to rise to sec­ond place.

Pare­mata-Plim­mer­ton suf­fered an­other heart­breaker, los­ing 33-28 to Marist St Pat’s.

In the women’s comep­ti­tion, North­ern United beat Old Boys- Univer­sity 32- 17, Tawa beat Poneke by de­fault.
