The Whanau Centre is booming, with a new community gym and classroom planned at its Cannons Creek site.

As a result, Pacific Health and Social Services, which rents the back part of the Whanau Centre, has been told its lease will end in December.

Whanau Centre chief executive Liz Kelly said Pacific Health would move back into its own building next door.

‘‘ Instead of paying dead money in rent they can put it back into their own building,’’ she said.

‘‘ We need the space because our programmes are getting bigger and that’s exciting. We are crammed.’’

Pacific Health has already given back half the space and will be moved out by December.

Kelly said with the growth would come nine new jobs.
