Plenty going on in Cannons Creek
Cannons Creek has been a hive of activity recently, with a safety upgrade of the shopping centre’s parking area and a refurbishment of the public toilet. The safety upgrade is nearly nished and has seen the shopping centre carpark recon gured following the relocation of the central taxi stand. The carpark’s Mun
gavin Ave exit has been closed and replaced with a two-way entry and exit (left-hand turn only) onto Warspite Ave. The project also involved developing a pedestrian crossing on Mungavin Ave, a new roundabout at the intersection of Mungavin Ave and Bedford St, and a taxi rank on Mungavin Ave. The work has created a slow zone through the village and was sparked by community demand. The Cannons Creek Residents and Ratepayers Association worked with Porirua City Council’s Village Planning Programme and the Road Safety team on the redesign. Meanwhile, the local public toilet has been given an artistic touch. The three-cubicle Exeloo has been renovated inside and out and has large colourful photographs adorning the doors.
