Porirua has had a big leap in the Gi­ga­town com­pe­ti­tion hav­ing jumped from 10th to 4th place thanks to amaz­ing help from the Porirua communty. Porirua is now one of the top ve who will be­come nal­ists to bat­tle it out to be­come New Zealand’s rst Gi­ga­town. A re­cent boost in our rank­ings is thanks to lo­cal busi­ness own­ers who each won us 250,000 points for their busi­ness videos. Vi­sion Mul­ti­me­dia Lim­ited run by Luke Pilkinton-Ching won Best Small Busi­ness video and Tony Su­to­rius of Un­real Films Lim­ited won the video with the best de­scrip­tion of how UFB will change the way a com­pany does busi­ness in the fu­ture. Mayor Nick Leggett, who re­cently ran from Porirua to Welling­ton to gain re­gion- al sup­port for our bid, thanks every­one in the com­mu­nity and re­gion for their su­perb sup­port in this cam­paign. Win­ning will give Porirua gi­ga­bit-speed broad­band at cheap rates.
