The annual Tawa Schools and Community Music Festival is happening on September 23.

Tawa Goes To Town is a vibrant multi-media show that will feature 720 singers and dancers from Tawa’s six primary schools, Tawa Intermediate, Tawa College and the Tawa community.

The programme features a variety of songs and includes arrangements of classics from the 1960s and 70s through to the modern day. Some songs are choral numbers and others are accompanied by dances, choralography, props and special effects.

Tawa musicians Murray Cameron and Jean Hollier will team up as musical director and producer, and Sara Scott will oversee the dance and theatrical numbers. Martin Burdan has been the ‘‘ piano man’’ since the festival was first held, in the Michael Fowler Centre in 1982.

The musical backing is provided by a combo of experienced instrumentalists and talented, young students from Tawa College.
