The nominees for the young employee of the year at this year’s Porirua Business Awards have been decided.

The shortlist is: John DaviesColley of Porirua City Community IT Educational Trust, Matthew Kearney of Tanker Solutions and Jessica Gardiner of Rappaw Veterinary Services.

Michelle Robinson from Partners Porirua, which sponsors this category, said young people may not have the experience but can provide enthusiasm, motivation and freshness in the workplace.

‘‘Not only do they bring new ideas to the business, but they can provide an insight to the thinking of young people as consumers,’’ she said.

The calibre of entrants this year was extremely high, Robinson said.
