No live streaming – yet
Porirua City Council will not be live streaming its meetings.
Councillors debated the issue at the Te Komiti meeting on August 28.
Deputy mayor ’ Ana Coffey’s request for a report on streaming meetings live over the internet did not find favour with her colleagues.
While the takeup for watching meetings was low, there were advantages to streaming, Coffey said. It would give the community a chance to see what happens at meetings and could serve as an archive.
Council chief executive Gary Simpson set-up costs would be up to $70,000 and the service would cost up to $36,000 a year to maintain.
