Parata sticking with Mana

Kapi-Mana News - - ELECTION 2014 - By RHIANNON McCONNELL

Hekia Parata had mixed emotions on Saturday night, with a record win for the National Party, but a decisive loss for her personally in the Mana electorate.

Despite losing to Kris Faafoi by 6785 votes, Parata said she had given it her best shot.

‘‘We worked blimmin’ hard,’’ she said at Mana Cruising Club on the night.

Though the campaigning was over, she said her work in Mana was not.

‘‘I’ll continue to participate in the things I can. I’ll continue to work away. It’s a great electorate.’’

After months of travelling, Parata said she would be right back into work with no break planned until Christmas.

It is not confirmed if Parata, No 7 on the National Party list, will remain Minister of Education.

‘‘If the Prime Minister wants me to do it, I’ll be happy to do it,’’ she said.
