Early days in Tawa

Kapi-Mana News - - NEWS -

Dirt paths and long stretches of farmland are a far cry from Tawa today.

In this picture of water being connected to new houses in 1957, Tawa was still a developing community.

The first attempt at housing subdivisions in Tawa were in 1896 and in 1906, but it wasn’t until about the 1940s and 50s that Tawa grew strongly and its rural character largely disappeared.
