Planning for a new northern residential area to cater for future population growth has attracted a number of submissions, some of which will be presented at a Council hearing on October 7. The Northern Growth Area Structure Plan is a 30-year strategy for future growth in Porirua’s northern suburbs between Camborne and Pukerua Bay, from 2020 and beyond. The proposed structure plan was developed following workshops and consultation with residents, landholders and stakeholders, and aims to balance future development with protecting and enhancing the environment. The community had until September 19 to make submissions on the proposed plan. The nal structure plan is expected to be released in December 2014.
