So, how’s your blood pressure?
There will be free blood pressure checks in Porirua and Tawa on Saturday.
In an initiative run by the Stroke Foundation, Tawa Medical Centre and Tawa Rotary Club, free blood pressure checks will be carried out at New World Tawa and New World Porirua from 10am till 2pm.
Wellington City councillor Malcolm Sparrow, who is supporting the drive, said regular checks were important.
‘‘It’s simple and painless to get done, but may just make a big difference to your health,’’ he said.
Information about blood pressure and other risk factors for a stroke will be provided during the check, and people with high readings will be referred to their GPs for extra advice and possible treatment.
