Porirua business is booming – that was the message that came out of the Westpac Porirua Business Excellence Awards at Te Rauparaha Arena on Thursday night.

Aspiring Walls took out the supreme award in its first year competing.

Chamber of Commerce chief executive, Holly Thompson, said the judges were impressed by the ability of the 54-year-old business to change with the times. She said the supreme award focused on a business with a lot of success in the past 12 months. It was not based on how many other awards were won by the business during the evening, which drew nearly 240 people, she said.

Fun night: From left, Sharyn Gibbons (Time4You), Sandra Shakes, Tim and Ross Griffiths (Chiropractic Balance), Margaret Lavery (Supergrans Charitable Trust) and Bill and Rae Denize. Supreme winners: From left, Westpac area manager Cat Feaunati with supreme winners Lauren King, Andreas Paxie, Bronwynne Stening and Robyn Cook from Aspiring Walls.
