Good news for Pare Plim
Rex Ambler says the hard work starts now.
The chairman of Paremata Plimmerton Rugby Football Club was delighted with the news last Friday that his club would be in the 14-team Swindale Shield next season.
It’s Paremata Plimmerton’s first foray back into the top grade since 1986.
‘‘It’s taken a while and a lot of work,’’ he said. ‘‘We produced a good document to present to the [Wellington Rugby] union and we’ve got there.
‘‘A lot of people have helped. But the hard work does begin now – we have to get out into our community to tell them that there’s two premier clubs in Porirua now, and put together a competitive premier side.’’
Each of the 14 premier clubs will also field at least one age team in a very competitive colts competition.
The Swindale Shield starts with a gala day on March 21.
