Thou­sands have fun

The Hal­loween Al­ter­na­tive Party by the Lake, or­gan­ised by the three churches in Whitby – St Mary’s Angli­can Church, The An­chor and North Porirua Bap­tist Church – was a big suc­cess on Oc­to­ber 31.

The sun came out to en­able the mostly out­door event to run as planned and thou­sands of peo­ple were able to en­joy the en­ter­tain­ment pro­vided.

Mana MP Kris Faafoi at­tended and said: ‘‘The fact that my niece and her friends almost jumped out of the car be­fore it stopped shows how stoked they were the party went on de­spite the weather re­ports.

‘‘It was great fun for the masses of fam­i­lies and a re­ally good way to cel­e­brate in a safe en­vi­ron­ment.’’

Loads of vouch­ers were given away from lo­cal busi­nesses and the in­door mu­si­cal en­ter­tain­ment was well at­tended.

The event is in its 14th year.
