Kapi-Mana News - - NEWS - By ALAN WICKENS

Two residents of Summerset Retirement Village in Aotea have created a wall hanging to represent the poppies that bloomed on the battlefields of World War I.

Carole Wickens said that red poppies had become a symbol of remembrance and she made a display, with the help of Jay Emerson, to be hung in the Village reception area for the rest of November and for next Anzac Day.

November 11 marks the anniversary of the Armistice that ended hostilities on the Western Front of World War 1. A special event was held today to display the poppies at Summerset Village.
