Summer’s coming, mind the water
Garden water restrictions are in force in all the cities served by Wellington Water.
Restrictions apply in Upper Hutt year round and in Porirua, Wellington and Hutt City they apply during the period of daylight saving, from September 28 until next April 5.
In Upper Hutt residents may use a single hose garden irrigation system, sprinkler, soaker hose or an unattended hose three days each week between 6am and 8am and between 7pm and 9pm.
In Porirua, Hutt City and Wellington, each resident can use a single-hose unattended watering system on alternate days between 6am and 8am and between 7pm and 9pm.
Garden watering can be done at odd-numbered addresses on odd days of the month and at evennumbered addresses on even days of the month.
Hand-held hoses and watering cans may be used any time.
However, unattended watering cannot take place at the same time.
There are no restrictions on addresses with metered water supplies, or where residents collect their own water for gardens.
