Sum­mer’s com­ing, mind the wa­ter

Gar­den wa­ter re­stric­tions are in force in all the ci­ties served by Wellington Wa­ter.

Re­stric­tions ap­ply in Up­per Hutt year round and in Porirua, Wellington and Hutt City they ap­ply dur­ing the pe­riod of day­light sav­ing, from Septem­ber 28 un­til next April 5.

In Up­per Hutt res­i­dents may use a sin­gle hose gar­den ir­ri­ga­tion sys­tem, sprin­kler, soaker hose or an unat­tended hose three days each week be­tween 6am and 8am and be­tween 7pm and 9pm.

In Porirua, Hutt City and Wellington, each res­i­dent can use a sin­gle-hose unat­tended wa­ter­ing sys­tem on al­ter­nate days be­tween 6am and 8am and be­tween 7pm and 9pm.

Gar­den wa­ter­ing can be done at odd-num­bered ad­dresses on odd days of the month and at even­num­bered ad­dresses on even days of the month.

Hand-held hoses and wa­ter­ing cans may be used any time.

How­ever, unat­tended wa­ter­ing can­not take place at the same time.

There are no re­stric­tions on ad­dresses with metered wa­ter sup­plies, or where res­i­dents col­lect their own wa­ter for gar­dens.
