Tawa-Lyn­d­hurst too good for Ti­tahi Bay

Tawa-Lyn­d­hurst showed they are a force to be reck­oned with by crush­ing Ti­tahi Bay in women’s premier 1 ten­nis ac­tion on Satur­day.

They banked eight points with wins in the four sin­gles and two dou­bles matches.

Hosts Ti­tahi Bay won just 13 games in six matches.

The most em­phatic wins came when Olivia Wooldridge beat Kerry Noble 6-0, 6-1 and Kelly Drew and Wooldridge blanked Ta­nia Martin and Ni­cola Winch 6-0, 6-0 in dou­bles.

The re­sult leaves Tawa-Lyn­d­hurst in third place on the com­pe­ti­tion ta­ble on 16 points.

In men’s premier 1 ac­tion, Tawa- Lyn­d­hurst were sound win­ners over Maun­garaki, 4-2.

Pratt Keera­sun­ton­pong had a rare loss for Tawa-Lyn­d­hurst, go­ing down 6- 3, 6- 0 to Olly Sadler, but made up for it in the dou­bles, com­bin­ing with Mar­cel Glover to beat Ja­cob Emery and David Sil­cock 6-2, 6-3.

In the pick of the matches, Tawa- Lyn­d­hurst’s Charlie Hud­son and Shane Glover beat Steve Billing and Steve Chap­man 7-5, 4-6, 10-8.

Tawa-Lyn­d­hurst are sec­ond in the stand­ings, four points be­hind Thorn­don.

Tough go­ing: Ti­tahi Bay’s Ta­nia Martin had a tough time of it in the dou­bles against Tawa-Lyn­d­hurst.
