An impressive brother and sister duo from Tawa won the waka ama titles at this year’s College Sport Wellington awards.

Tyran and Eden Te Paa performed with distinction at regional and secondary school nationals for Tawa College this past season, earning a swag of medals.

With the college season over, the duo begun twice-weekly training for Porirua Canoe Kayak Club with an eye on the national sprint championship in January.

Tyran said he took up waka ama five years ago because most of his family participated in it.

Though he was doing well in the team events, he hoped to push on in the J1 races.

‘‘I enjoy being out there with the boys and would like to keep the success I’ve being having. It’s a fun sport; I love it,’’ he said.
