Fond memories of drag races

Kapi-Mana News - - OPINION -

I have really fond memories of the Porirua drags (Flashback, November 11).

We looked forward to the event each year.

In those days my former husband and I were in Porirua City Rodders Hot Rod Club and he used to drive his Ford Popular in the drags.

It was a great family day out and provided petrolheads and car enthusiasts with an opportunity to blow the cobwebs out of their cars in a safe place.

It was an enjoyable and entertaining day out.

My sons are now drag racers and race at Taupo’s Thunder Dragway and at Masterton Motorplex, because there is nowhere else to go.

The port road track is not long enough for serious drag racers.

My family would love to see the drag racing back in Porirua again
