Less parking not the answer

Kapi-Mana News - - OPINION -

Kapi Mana News (December 2) showed an artist’s impression of a revised Cobham Court.

Less than two years ago, Porirua City Council advised the introduction of parking meters was required because there were not enough short-term car park spaces in the city.

The artist’s impression shows the council’s plan to get more shoppers into the CBD is to reduce the number of car park spaces in Cobham Court.

How does that help retailers and other businesses in the CBD?

I assume the council will offset the reduction in car park spaces by introducing parking meters in Cobham Court, to reduce average stay times.
