Volunteers wanted for war musical
Auditions are being held on Saturday for the musical Voices From The Front, a musical to commemorate the centenary of the Gallipoli campaign.
Porirua Little Theatre is joining Porirua City Brass Band to produce the show, which will be staged at Te Rauparaha Arena over Anzac weekend.
Voices From the Front will feature many well-known songs from the World War I era.
They include I Wonder Who’s Kissing Her Now and It’s A Long Way To Tipperary.
The show was written by Amanda Stone and will be directed by John Goddard.
It is a tribute to the extraordinary courage of those who gave their lives during New Zealand’s Gallipoli campaign.
is a thought-provoking tale of camaraderie, tragedy, heroism, heartbreak and the cheeky humour of the humble New Zealand soldier.
It begins with the announcement of war on the steps of Parliament, moves to training in Egypt.
The action then moves to the trenches of Gallipoli and the final evacuation.
The show has an ensemble cast with a large chorus and plenty of character parts.
It will be an important event in Porirua’s commemorations of the centenary of the Gallipoli campaign.
