St Pius X School couldn’t wait to taste the pancakes they made in preparation for their school picnic on Pancake Tuesday, February 17.

Pancake Tuesday

is

cele- brated in many countries as the last day before Lent – a six-week period of fasting and prayer before Easter. It is also known as ‘‘ Fat Tuesday’’ or ‘‘ Mardi Gras’’ because it refers to the practice of eating rich and fatty food before fasting.

Mardis Gras carnivals are held around the world, so St Pius X pupils also made masks to show their parents.
