New Zealand’s first coloured coin, launched earlier this month to mark 100 years since the Gallipoli landings, is now available for pre-order.
One million of the coins have been minted and will be available in PostShops and Kiwibank branches from March 23.
Interest in the coins has been high and people who are concerned they may miss out are able to pre-order at nzpost.co.nz/ anzaccoin.
People can order either one 50 cent coin or one roll of 20 coins. The coins will be sold at face value.
The coin features a New Zealand and an Australian soldier standing back to back, with their heads bowed in remembrance.
The mangopare (hammerhead shark) pattern symbolises strength and determination, and the silver fern reflects New Zealand’s national identity.
To represent New Zealand’s national colours, the mangopare is coloured white on the coin, with the background black.
