Blues duo offer traditional treat
Veteran blues man Dave Murphy and long-time musician friend Dougal Spier are coming to Paekakariki.
They are the headlining Red Dog Acoustic Duo at the Vintage Blues Sessions in St Peter’s Village Hall on March 28.
They will be supported by Blakewater Blues, consisting of local musicians Gordon Chamley ( harmonica and vocals), Murray Kilpatrick ( finger- style guitar and vocals) and Sue Rose (vocals).
Blakewater Blues play vintage acoustic blues and original compositions in similar traditional style.
Murphy has a long history in blues music. In the 1980s he travelled through the United States meeting musicians and learning blues tunes from the originals like Eugene Powell, better known as Sonny Boy Nelson.
Vintage Blues Sessions, St Peter’s Village Hall, Paekakariki from 7.30pm on 28 March. Tickets at eventfinder.co.nz.
Big night: Dave Murphy.
