This shot of the Porirua Cook Is­lands ju­nior beauty pageant in 1996 has plenty of Pa­cific beauty on show. It took a few of our Face­book fol­low­ers back in time.

Deb­o­rah David iden­ti­fied the girls as, from left, Bobina Bina Paw­ley, who won best Mu’umu’u sec­tion and placed third over­all, TuPo­pongi Joseph, who won best tal­ent sec­tion and first over­all, El­iza Takairangi, who won best pareu/sarong sec­tion and came sec­ond over­all and, in front, Jor­dana David, who won the best tra­di­tional cos­tume sec­tion and came fifth over­all.

She said Nakita Finch was not in the pic­ture, but fin­ished fourth over­all and won the Miss Pho­to­genic sec­tion.

All the girls trav­elled to Auck­land to com­pete in the Miss Cook Is­lands in­ter­na­tional beauty pageant.
