Cook Islands beauties on show
This shot of the Porirua Cook Islands junior beauty pageant in 1996 has plenty of Pacific beauty on show. It took a few of our Facebook followers back in time.
Deborah David identified the girls as, from left, Bobina Bina Pawley, who won best Mu’umu’u section and placed third overall, TuPopongi Joseph, who won best talent section and first overall, Eliza Takairangi, who won best pareu/sarong section and came second overall and, in front, Jordana David, who won the best traditional costume section and came fifth overall.
She said Nakita Finch was not in the picture, but finished fourth overall and won the Miss Photogenic section.
All the girls travelled to Auckland to compete in the Miss Cook Islands international beauty pageant.
